As
a social dancer, Mitra has been
dancing since 1998 when she first encountered
Tango in Buenos Aires. From 1998-2004
she lived in New York City and enjoyed
an intense six years of fantastic social
dancing of many styles surrounded by great
dancers, teachers, DJs, and musicians.
She moved to Los Angeles in 2004 to work
with West Coast Tango artists and contribute
positively to the local Tango community.
Mitra
is a Tango festival junkie and has attended
probably all the major Tango festivals
in North America, most of them several
times. She has marathon danced at the
finest milongas of Europe and Argentina.
Mitra
has performed with some of the most renowned
and subtle leaders in North America. In
Los Angeles, she teaches and performs
with Stefan Fabry, a modern dancer and
contact improviser, and her partner in
refining and experimenting with Tango.
In
2000-2001, Mitra built an online art installation
dedicated to and inspired by Tango, located
at www.1times1.com.
